The organization aims to help give women in Sierra Leone a voice and the opportunity to reach their  fullest potentials. Many women are talented or gifted in education, sports, music and art, science and have also demonstrated a great passion for saving the environment, defending human rights as well as advocating for their freedom of expression. More often than not their voices are hardly recognized. Their leadership ability is often downplayed. Women are not given the opportunities to take leadership roles and make a difference.

What the YWVL does is to leverage the potentials of young women who are marginalized from taking their place in society as leaders to gain the empowerment and use their skills that will benefit society as a whole.
